LEBANON

19. July 2006

Dear Guirgis Saleh,
dear brother and sisters,
dear friends and colleagues,

With great shock, sorrow and concern we hear and see the escalation of military conflict in your region. We join you in prayer for an end of the militarization, and we support your plea for an immediate return to political dialogue and negotiations for political solutions to the conflict. We share your concerns on the loss of life and the displacement of so many people.

We do hope that the international community will act and assist, that your pleas will find open ears and adequate responses on political as well as humanitarian levels. We also hope and plead that refugees and migrants will not be forgotten so that persons in need of protection will speedily be granted durable solutions including resettlement options.

Many friends and colleagues who participated in the Amman Process meetings of exchange between MECC and CCME send their heartfelt greetings and are with you in prayer as we are.

We ask for God's blessing and wish you all the strength needed!

With best wishes and greetings,
